Pauline was never a princess. In a coloring book for the Donkey Kong arcade game (BTW all early artwork of Mario resembles Popeye slightly) Pauline was a singer in a circus that had Donkey Kong as an attraction. Even the Saturday Supercade reinforced the story.

Also considering Mario was a Carpenter (Donkey Kong), Plumber (Mario Bros.), and ... um ... Demolitions? (Wrecking Crew) I would assume he was a Contractor and not just a plumber.

I'm not a big gamer but these were a lot of fun and some of these I already knew such as # 1 but I think is the only one I knew for certain besides Donkey Kong Jr. I didn't realize how many names Mario went through before Mario. This was fun all the same though.

I actually learned a bit myself when compiling this list. Most of it I already had in my head, but a few things came as new to me. For example, regarding Mario's name, I had originally written the script to be about Mr. Video for that segment. But as I was gathering old images of Mario, I came across the interview where Imanishi mentions Ossan, and I knew I had to put it in.

I'm happy you enjoyed it though. It was sort of my second experiment with a countdown style video, and I feel it turned out rather well.

Glad you enjoyed it man! I've been having a lot of fun lately trying my hand at different types of videos. I really enjoy the creative process of these "Top 9 Thing You Never Knew" videos, and I did another one about Street Fighter 2 that is up on my site. But it's time for me to focus on my next movie review. It's going to be on Batman: The Movie, from 1966, and I want to make it my best video yet.
