Well no more NC. I'm kind of glad though when I think about it. He's moving on before it became beating a dead horse. I'm glad about the new stuff as well. Hopefully we'll be able to still watch the old episodes. Also my first review was The Wizard of Oz.

Yeah, I was expecting that reaction and while I do think it's fine that Doug has done all he can with Critic, I don't know if that is the case. Maybe it is as there are a lot of reviewers out there but I think one thing that helps and this going to sound werid from someone that kinda is niche reviewer if you want to continue reviewing. Diversity. Don't just do reviews, do other stuff to and talk about the things people aren't talking about. Okay, again I know this could be used against me and yeah, I know I do a lot of reviews but I have other things that I don't really consider reviews but I still get to stay within my niche being the Can We Talk about's, where I get to share my thoughts on stuff other than movies. Yeah, I know that may sound they are reviews but I don't really consider those reviews. Rather they're just my soapbox to talk about decisions made by Disney or reactions by the fans that I don't understand or don't agree with. They are also a way for me to vent sometimes too. Yeah, I may review as my primary focus but I don't just focus on films. Honestly, I don't do film reviews that often and I think my last one was Lizzie McGuire but even within my reviews, I have different things I cover such as shorts and of course Music Fridays and I'll admit with Music Fridays, I'm experimenting a bit to try new things because just talking about why I like a song can get boring. Take for instance, my Who Am I? Music Fridays instead of just talking about why I like the songs, I tried to look at how through these songs, the characters view themselves. Or my next one, where the theme is World (and yes, that'll include Small World). There, I'm taking a look at 4 songs and how and different characters in how they use the world in their song. So, I don't think reviewing is dying. I tihnk angry reviewing has run it's course but I still think there is room for reviewers out but I just think people have gotten tired of so many people going "This sucks" with someone playing a character. I think real reviewing, not fake angry still has a place though. I don't know that's just me and yes, I know I mentioned character dying out and I too have a character being Darkfan but the difference is I only use sproadically and to be honest, he probably won't appear on A Look at Disney anytime soon because I like that to be me. If any of you, want to use him, great. I'll let you in on a little secret before I saw the reaction he got on Pt. 1 of DisneyOtoko's villian list, I had decided to kill him because I was at that point growing tired of him but then I saw much the site loved him and well, I loved seeing those reactions, so I decided to let him live. Well, he be used again. Probably as I think Fusionater and I have some ideas for what we could with him but again, it won't be weekly. I don't know what I'm saying that this point, I'm just rambling.

I thought your first article was a countdown of movie music but it's been so long. I can't remember.

Although I found his recent NC episodes not so charming as they used to be, I felt very sad to hear that Doug Walker will no longer be doing it. To Boldly Flee was extremely silly and often simply ripping off things instead of "parodying", but it had so much fun and many thoughtful moments. I was uninterested till the last minute, yet now I'm glad I checked it out.
My first review wasSilly Symphonies - Flowers and Trees, review of an old Disney cartoon, and I think it's one of my best blogs.

See, this is why I got really popular really fast. As egotistical as it sounds, I knew straight away that no one was gonna give a crap about my opinon on X, Y and Z because I very rarely give a crap about what anyone else's opinions are. Unless the person reviewing it is a proper critic then I don't care if they like a movie or not, I'm not gonna read or watch the billionth review of the Avengers if I'm just gonna hear the same things over and over again. Whereas I exploded onto the scene by combining stuff like Disney and Death Note or coming up with wild yet plausable theories because no one else did. No one else really does either (cept Leon Thomas on Renegade Cut; and I'm too relieved that someone else is over-analysing stuff to be jealous). Reviewing is dead and it's been dead for quite some while. It's come to the point where anything that isn't just a straight up review on TGWTG is a godsend because I'm tired of people saying "this movie sucks" over and over again. Though I can't wait for the part where Doug and Rob Walker fall into the same traps and pitfalls of the movies they mocked. Though I'm not looking forward to the part where people try to defend them because there 'new' and whatnot (cos the same can be said for stuff they've reviewed. Why should these brothers get a free pass?)

Oh I never said people shouldn't do it (at least, I don't think I did). I'm just saying they shouldn't expect to get anywhere anytime soon and if they were wise they'd try to do something new rather then copy what's been done before.

I count Top Tens as something different personality. So the top ten was my first blog but Oz was my first 'review'.

I wouldn't say reviewing is dead. My blog is literally just a collection of reviews, but I actually sit down and try writing proper reviews. The only time I really try to throw in jokes is when I hate a book and decide to rip it to shreds. I don't make any money off of it, but I don't try to do so either. The only thing I can hope to achieve is to use my reviews to inspire someone -- to discover a new favourite author or a lost classic or anything of the sort -- and every once in a while, someone leaves a comment to let me know that I've done just that. And that is a great feeling. I watched TO BOLDLY FLEE religiously from day 1, and I thought the ending was decent. I was sort-of expecting it, but at the same time, there were a few small surprises to be found in the ending. I was hoping for a bit better of a twist, but hey, I have a nasty suspicious mind... My first review is quite probably the worst one I've ever done-- a video review of THE AFFAIR AT ROYALTIES, a book so terrible that I literally was sick while reading it. Yeah, there's a reason I haven't done a video review since (although I *am* working on one now...)

As for my first blog, there are 2 contenders. One is "Why the Daleks are scary" in something I was gonna call Pop Culture Corner, but I properly started blogging with "Disney and Death Note". Though by this point I can barely remember lol

While I'm sad to see the Nostalgia Critic, at the very least, go into semi-retirement, I can understand the reasons for it. It was clear from the last few Nostalgia Critic episodes that Doug and Rob were feeling as if the NC was becoming tired and repetitive. And the recent announcement pretty much confirms those suspicions. The longer a show that's as 'formulaic' as the NC goes on, the harder it is to find new variations on the stuff that's done every episode.
And just because something's popular doesn't mean you should keep doing it long after you're out of ideas for it and have said pretty much everything you can say with it. Look at The Simpsons, for a good example. Once one of the cleverest and funniest shows on television, it has degenerated into a badly-written caricature of its former self. Now that I think about it, that Top 11 on the Simpsons was probably another way Doug was preparing us for the NC's imminent retirement because in it he says the Simpsons has gone on too long but they continue to beat the dead horse.
All in all, it is good that Doug and Rob aren't taking the route of The Simpsons and continuing with a series they're creatively burned out on. But it is also good to hear that we might not have seen the last of the Nostalgia Critic, and we might still see a special or something here and there, even if it won't be a weekly show anymore.
As it stands now, the 'Scooby Doo' review and 'To Boldly Flee' are good sendoffs for the NC.
As for To Boldly Flee, I've got lots to say about it. Too much to say now. But I will say that I liked how they didn't actually get rid of the Plot Hole. If they had, everyone at CA would have had to be EXTRA careful not to make any more mistakes in their videos, or they wouldn't have had that handy explanation for inconsistencies around.
And having Dr. Insano (the guy about whom Spoony said 'There is no continuity. There is only Insano') be the one to explain how the Plot Hole affects their world now, and how a few inconsistencies here and there keeps things from becoming boring, was a stroke of genius (Fridge Brilliance). I also laughed out loud when he then demanded his stuff back. If this is the last time we see Dr. Insano interact with the TGWTG gang for the forseeable future, he left on a good note.

While a part of me will miss the NC, I think that over the years the Walkers have proven that they have the potential to do other things and I for one am very curious to see where this new direction takes them. Or maybe this is just another one of the signs of the Mayan apocolypse! !0_o! Also, I've never done any reviews, but I remember starting my video blogging out with a 5 Second Movie on 'The Incredible Hulk' about three years ago.
