I've given this some thought.  I don't think it has come up a whole lot recently, so here's my two cents, for what they're worth.

Manic Expression has a TVTropes.org page.  However, it doesn't look as though a whole lot has been done with it.  So, with that in mind, since I have a little expertise in making and building Trope pages, I'd like to volunteer.  This will actually be a bigger project than most think, though.

In other words, we need to take things further than one simple page.  I think we need to make a trope page for each of this site's major players.  Each page will then link to ME's Trope page.  This way, people stand a greater chance of locating us, and finding out more about it.

This isn't something I'm willing to tackle on my own, though.  What I need is information.  So, for everyone who wants a TV Tropes page, I want you to compile a list of tropes that apply to you, along with descriptions explaining how and why.  I'll be happy to build the pages from there, then, once the info is sent to me.  The bottom line is, this is a pretty big undertaking, and my time is, for the most part, not my own.  If you don't know much about TV Tropes or how tropes and the site works, take this opportunity to figure it out.  I won't even begin getting started on this until sometime after the podcast plays go up.  After that, it'll be a case by case basis.

What I will need:

A detailed description of who you are, and what it is that you do on Manic Expression.  How do you contribute to the site?  What makes you stand out among the other reviewers/bloggers?

The tropes that are associated with you, and how they apply.  Again, if you don't know what this means, spend some time on the site working out how it works.  Don't worry about the technical side of things.  I've got that covered.

Lastly, if this was already decided by someone else, my apologies.  I'd be happy to help however I can, or give my own Troper opinion on some things if it is needed.  If I jumped the gun in posting this, or inadverdently swiped the job from somebody else, that was not my intent in any way.

Cheers!

Glad someone's taking up the reins. I visit the site a lot, so give me a few days and I'll probably think up a few tropes that fit. I'm more concerned about promoting the site then my own work, so I'm thinking stuff along the lines of 'what is Manic Expression'.

I already have a Troper page, though it's not much. I just basically list the tropes I like, followed by a list of my Pet Peeve Tropes.

I suppose I could update it to mention my Manic Expression contributions, though I only sporadically post blog entries. I'm not a major contributor in the sense that Sydney, Les, pbmiranda, Moviefan12, Dark Jak, Mr. Smooth, and the rest are.

I find it hard to think of what tropes would apply to me. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Mine too. As of now, with the exception of the Nickelodeon summer tribute, I'm not that consisted of topics yet.

@TheDVDGrouch, ah, a big fan, can you please help me understand what a trope is?

Trope is a cliche, a common place in media. Let me try to explain with some examples:

Abduction is Love: When there is a kidnapping for the sole purpose of love, as in the kidnapper loves the victim. Like how NChick kidnaps Todd.

Training Montage: An easy to understand trope.

Rebel Leader: It's the character that is there to fight against the estabilishment. We have the rebels, and to chief them all, we have the rebel leader; Princess Leia is a proheminent example.

So, basically, it''s kind of like this is gonna work. Let's say I had a lot of episodes of anything under my belt, including one where I punched an evil hip hop alien warlord from space, with an awesome guitar riff. There is a trope called "Power of Music": when a problem is solved through the power of music. So, we would add that to my tropes page. And so on, and so forth. We could check similar people to get the most tropes from other people pages, as that would make the process easier.

Correction JotaKa, a trope is not a cliche. It clearly states that on their home page. To put it the simplest terms, they're commonly used writing devices.

A cliché is an overuse of a writing device. Although I was wrong (and I agree with the correction), I think I still got my point across. Or am I still entirely wrong?

MR Smooth, if there's one trope that I think could describe you perfectly, it would be The Casanova: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheCasanova

Fusionater, they're not cliches. Cliche means dull and trite, that which tropes are not.

Phineas and Ferb example.

Landmarking the Hidden Base: When the hidden base is hidden on a landmark. Remember when  Doofenshmirtz had a base in Mt. Rushmore? Like that: it's not a cliché, it's a writing device.

I disagree, cliches do not have to be dull, and freshness can be added to them.

cliché (plural clichés)

Something, most often a phrase or expression, that is overused or used outside its original context, so that its original impact and meaning are lost. A trite saying; a platitude. [from 19th c.]

Kidnapping the love interest during a film is a bit of a cliché.

(printing) A stereotype (printing plate).

--==--

A Cliché is overused. When you reinvent something, it upgrades back to trope. It's kind of simple.

I think a cliche, by its very defintion, is dull.
