As I established in a previous list, my favorite fictional character is Sidney Prescott. Throughout the four Scream movies, I've watched her take down killer after killer, while never giving up and always wanting to help save everybody she can.

Sidney, as you know, is played by the beautiful and talented Neve Campbell, who I will never say anything bad about her, even if Ms. Campbell straight up killed me.
Today, I will be counting my top eight favorite badass Sidney Prescott moments from the franchise. Be warned, there will be SPOILERS in this blog.
Here we go!
8. Giving the drop to the killer. (Scream 3)
This gets the lowest spot on the list because it was overall not that effective in stopping the killer, but nonetheless it was cool. Sidney, being chased around a studio replica of her old home, opens a door to find there is no room to go into, only a drop below. When Ghostface opens the door, what does Sidney do? Grab the killer and toss him down. Too bad there was a bed to cushion his fall, but ingenious planning nonetheless.
7. Stu's break into TV (Scream 1)
Having supposedly taken out the main killer, Billy, Sidney is forced into a struggle with his accomplice, Stu. After knocking him on the head with a vase, Sidney's next move is....push a big TV right onto his head, finishing off Stu. Even moreso than the previous few minutes, this is when you start to realize how tough Ms. Prescott was. I read that the "push tv onto the killer's head" concept was in the original draft for Part 3 where there was still 2 killers, and it would've a nice little Call Back.
6. Double Gun (Scream 3)
I kinda have to agree with Welshy's review where he stated that Sidney was portrayed as a little too weak in the third film, however, for me at least, Sidney seemed the most strategic here. When going to the Milton manor to save Dewey and Gale, Ghostface makes Sidney use a metal detector on herself, causing her to have to dispose of a gun she brought. But when Ghosface shows up moments later, Sidney reveals she had a second gun hidden in the exact same place, and proceeds to cap off a few rounds. Though, like before, it ends up not being that effective, it helps solidfy Sidney as a badass.
5. "Not in my movie" (Scream 1).
"This is the moment where the supposedly dead killer comes back to life for one last scare," says Randy. And Billy does just that. While Randy and Gale scream, Sidney, without even flinching, shoots Billy in the head (HEAD SHOT!). This is where you could see the signs of that, while Sidney is truly a caring person, she can be cold when need be. She's kinda like the Bay incarnation of Optimus Prime, except Sidney's likeable, and unlike the Transformers series, in the Scream films you don't want to see everybody die.
4. "Just in case" (Scream 2)
So, we're here again. Sidney, Gale, and Cotton have supposedly finished off Mickey and Mrs. Loomis. Mickey already came back for one last scare, so it's Mrs. Loomis's turn, right? Wrong. Without the big bad even making a flinch, Sidney delivers the Boom! Head Shot anyways. You have to hand it to her, she doesn't risk something that isn't worth risking. The complete subversion of the Jump Scare is epic, IMO.
3. A Game of "Guess Who Called...." (Scream 1)
Sidney has fled from Billy and Stu, and suddenly the phone rings. When the killers answer it, Sidney reveals (Using the Ghostface voice changer), that she's called the cops on them. This is a moment I love to see in movies-it's not so much the villain is beaten, but their plan has fallen apart. At this point, even if they succeeded in killing her, it would be no good, they're fucked. It's like the moment in Cabin in the Woods where Dana presses that big red button (Timdiana and anyone who has seen Cabin knows what I'm talking about.)
2. "Don't Fuck with the Original." (Scream 4)
Sidney may have been more badass then ever in the most recent (and likely, final) installment of the Scream franchise, but the moment that shines here is the ending. In the ICU, having survived the attempt on her life by the current evil mastermind, Sidney has no time to rest before she has to fight her again. While Dewey and the others arrive, their help doesn't seem to stop the killer That's when Sidney activates the defibrilator and shocks the killer on the head, followed up moments later with a chest shot. She then gives the quote used in this entry's title, which honestly made me cheer in the theater. I think the true lesson of Scream 4 is that Sidney still has it.
And the number one most badass Sidney Prescott moment IMO is........
1. Calling out the killer's motive (Scream 3)
When people on the internet like to discuss the concept of "who is the most badass", they mostly just stick to discussing a character's powers or what incredible physical feat they pulled off. But the most badass Sidney moment IMO is one that just has her using words, not actions. After Roman gives his motivation for the kills and blames Sidney for everything he's gone through, Sidney calls him out on his bullshit. She begins to rip him a new one by pointing out that all the murders happened because he chose to become a killer, it's his own fault. Though this was directed at only one killer, this speech from Sid could be used as the ultimate counter against any villain who tries to justify their terrible actions by saying "bad things happened to me." You go, Ms. Prescott.
There's my list, hope you guys enjoyed it. This list was assisted in the making by local princess of the Pride Lands and Sidney sound-a-like, Kiara.
Kiara: Thanks, though I don't know why everyone thinks I sound like her. And why did you ask me to do this?
Brek: Because you're also Neve Campbell-ish. Also, you're a lioness. You can tear apart most human beings. You're badass by default.

That Long-Haired Creepy Guy says...
An excellent list. I've loved these films from the moment I saw them in theaters. I agree that Sidney was an amazing horror film protagonist: intelligent, resourceful, able to think on her feet, and willing to do what was necessary without losing her warmth and compassion. I too loved the Shut Up, Hannibal speech she gave to Roman at the climax.
You may or may not agree with me on this, but I always took that speech as Craven's response to the Watchdog groups that have hounded him. Roman didn't become a killer because of horror films. He became a killer because he chose to. Films and bad past experiences are excuses people use.
