PK’s Starbuck Single Reviews – Ep #3 – Zac Brown Band “The Wind”

YEEEEEEEHAWWWW!!! Let’s get this review started shall we! *smacks forehead* OK I have said this once… twice.. and more that I am NOT a Country, Western, Blue Grass or any version of that genera of music! However I did say I would do these so, strap on your boots, get your cowboy hat on, and start to get ready to do a hoedown, or two step because we are diving into unfamiliar territory!
So once again we will go with the history, ummm they are a country band! Wait.. no no .. that isn’t how I do it. So, Zac Brown Band is a band out of Atlanta, Georgia. They started back in 2002 and had a very heavy tour schedule when they started trying to get a name for themselves. It seemed like it worked really well because since 2009 they have earned more than 50 GRAMMY, ACM, AMA, CMA, and CMT award nominations.
So, where does that bring us, well it brings us to the song. This is a NEW song! It is only a couple of months old, how does it sound? Like a country song! OK OK I know that isn’t fair, it actually sounds really damn good! The song it self has a great tempo to it. Honestly I thought it was going to be a slower song with the title of “The Wind” and it doesn’t, it has a great up tempo that makes it very tolerable to listen to. YES this is coming from me folks! I have had a few listens to the song and it defiantly sounds like a country/bluegrass song but wow does it have a lot of zip to it.
This song as I said is pretty new it came out in June 2012, as part of the second single for their new album “Uncaged” that was released July 2012. This is a band that a lot of country fans like, and I’ll let you know if most bands did a song like this for singles, their albums would sell like hot cakes! The song seems like you cant take a breath as it keeps going and keeps pace, the solos in it are amazing! The guitar solo, the violin solo and whatever other solos they have there are smooth and really, pardon the pun, foot stomping to tapping, in what they try to show off in the song, and that is a hell of a lot of talent that all the members of the band have.
This song does come in at a short 2:57 seconds but in that time there is a lot to listen to.
Lyrically it is great, it is about a guy who left his gal (at least that is what I’m guessing) and how he regrets what he did and how he wishes or wants her back. Pretty much anywhere the wind blows his love will be there for her. Even though it is a short song they fit a lot of lyrics into it, kept the solos short and fast! I have to say it is a damn good song!
Honestly I don’t have anything bad to say about this song, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t listen to this type of music. The country fans out there are going to be happy with this song and Zac Brown Band have made another hit to possibly add to the 50 nominations they have already!
Now I also viewed the video because when I was doing some research on this I found this little gem:
“The music video was animated by Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill creator Mike Judge and premiered in July 2012. It features animated versions of the band”
OH .. you can SOOOO Tell it was!!! And chalk another perfect mark up for them because they did a wicked job on this video. Now I’m NOT going to spoil it but let me put it this way, If Heavy Metal the comic went to the country side of things, this is what you would get! Check out the video here:

Weather you are a fan of country or not, you have to at least check out the video
For me I have to give the song a very solid 9/10. For any country fan this is a gem of a song and it will do really well for itself!
For now I’m PK saying ROCK … sigh that doesn’t fit with this… ummm GET YOUR TWO STEP ON.. and we will see you next time!

That song was pretty cool, but I'm hard pressed to admit that it wasn't influenced by the awesomness of the music video. Nice review, pk.

Awesome review and as I've said in the past., this is my favorite genre and I don't know if I've heard this one yet but I've like their other songs.
