Manic Expression

Hi folks, I've been thinking recently, and I've realized something, my taste in music is WEIRD. The type of music I most enjoy listening to isn't from some hit band like the Beatles, or even some sweet scores from Frank SInatra, now, don't get me wrong, I enjoy these folks, finding some of their songs to be fantastic, but they never stick to me, I just find myself not caring the next day. What music do I care about? Try a group of mice singing about making a dress.

Now, in case you didn't know what that was from(you poor bastard), that is from 1950's Cinderella, a movie about a young girl who is largely overworked by her heavily parodied evil stepmother, you may have heard of it.

Anyway, the film is full of magnificent songs, like "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes",  "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo", and several more, now, the to that stand out to me the most are Bibbidy-Bobbidi-Boo and what I have already mentioned, the Work Song. Why is this? How is it that I enjoy this song over a song like, say, Let it Snow?(Les, forgive me) It's kind of strange actually, recently, a friend of mine coined a name for my rather exclusive taste in music. A showtune. I than googled it and learned showtunes actually had to do with broadway or some shit like that. Oh well, basically, this is what I consider a showtune now, and if there were an official Manic Expression Dictionary, I would likely add it to the contents.

Showtune: A piece of music often associated with film and television, has a narrative flow to it that derives the material for it's lyrics directly from the specific plot(possibly using character and locations names in the song), and(In similar fashion to a Ballad) may tell a story. 

Now, if it turns out that their is a word to describe the music which I am talking about, fuck it, I like mine better.

So, because of this revelation of what kind of music I prefer, I decided to start a blog about it, where I will showcase the various showtunes from a specific character or actor across film and television. Now after having spent 6 paragraphs explaining the premise of my blog, let's get started.

The first entry in this series had to be something special, it had to be something strongly associated with me, so, I picked a character anyone who's read half of my blogs(Or looked at my avatar for that matter) know I love, it's Phineas Flynn of course.

Over the course of Phineas and Ferb, Phineas has had a large number of songs he was either a part of, or played the major role, now, I have selected 4 of the better songs he has played a major part in, and here they are.

Dodger Stadium Code of Conduct

Hey check it out, I linked the header, suck it hard work. Anyway, the reason I put this song first is for 2 reasons, 1. It's not show cannon. 2. It's a duo with doofenshmirtz. So, just to get my shitty choice out of the way, this is a great song, and rather humorous throughout! Yeah...If it weren't for the fact that this is shear awesomeness I would have left it out.

Watchin' and Waitin'

Phineas made staring at a motionless object for an extended period of time interesting. I mean, my god, that's just incredible right there. We also get to see that Phineas and Ferb's guitar's lack the ability to maintain the same shape and size for more than a few seconds, but I digress.

One Good Scare

"Come let's tip-toe into the dark" That's the plot of 90% of all horror movies in the world. 3 words. This song kicks ass!  err, 4 words. It's Phineas Flynn trying to cure the hiccups of his neighbor Isabella through the most badass way possible. Fear. I mean, most of it's pretty tame, but what the hell is up with dropping an axe right in front of their faces!?!? Phineas, have you lost your fucking mind!?!? Still, this song is one of my favorites in the entire series, and it deserves that.

Hey Ferb!

Ah, what a way to end this, with a song containing various visual parodies of musicals most would consider much better than this, still, this song with a very small number of words used manages to be fantastic(mostly through visual imagery, but the singing is good to), now, if only Ferb would sing Hey Phineas...

And there you have it, my first blog of this series, I had fun writing it, I hope you had fun reading it(if you got this far), I might continue this series, I'm not sure yet, but what the hell, it was a fun ride.
