Mini Movie Review: The Outsiders

Posted by OX_Bigly on May 3, 2013 at 11:40 AM Comments comments (2)

There are a lot of films that I decided to see simply because the cover of the DVD/VHS box looked interesting.

Such is the case with this film. My eye was immediately drawn to the one guy back row center. For the longest time I thought this was Jim Carrey... but obvious factors like the year the film came out told me this wasn't him....

The Unbelievable Truth

Posted by OX_Bigly on April 22, 2013 at 1:10 PM Comments comments (3)

Remember when radio programming had a variety of things to offer above music and newstalk? No? Me neither, but according to Wikipedia and old people this was a thing. There were game shows, comedies, and drama, then "pictures came and broke your heart".

However, just how the year 2015 in Back to the Future II was the future of (and not the future from) the 1980s England seems to be the future of the golden age of radio.

Now I te...

Mini Movie Review: Bugged!

Posted by OX_Bigly on March 28, 2013 at 2:20 PM Comments comments (1)

Holly crap this movie.... is awesome!

The back of the box (Troma's website): Urban America calls on exterminators to wipe out the unwanted vermin. In Bugged, the only unwanted vermin is Man. Sexy homemaker Devine (Priscilla K. Basque) hires a whacked-out group of Bugbusters to rid her house of disgusting bugs. But it’s not long before the bugs grow to enormous sizes...

Mini Movie Review: I Am The Cheese

Posted by OX_Bigly on March 26, 2013 at 2:15 PM Comments comments (2)

"I Am The Cheese" is a 1983 film based on the 1977 novel by Robert Cormier. And yes, before I continue I only checked this film out from the library because of the Rocko's Modern Life reference.

That, and I wanted to know how the title made any sense.

Mini Movie Review: Stranger Than Fiction

Posted by OX_Bigly on March 23, 2013 at 5:00 PM Comments comments (5)

I thought I was going to hate Stranger Than Fiction because... Will Ferrell. However, the concept alone stuck in my head... and when I visited my local library I happened to find it. And hey, there's nothing as cheap as free.

From the back of the box:

"Will Ferrell stars as Harold Crick, a lonely IRS agent whose mundane existence is transformed when he hears a mysterious voic...

Mini Movie Review: Saw

Posted by OX_Bigly on February 28, 2013 at 12:20 AM Comments comments (2)

Two men awake in a room to find they are trapped, chained by their ankles to pipes. All they have is what's in the room: the clothes on their backs, a dead body in the middle of the room between them, and no clue as to how they arrived where they are. (I don't know if that's on the back of the box or not, but anything more than that would only spoil it, and also...

Mini Movie Review: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Krystal Skull

Posted by OX_Bigly on February 23, 2013 at 8:45 PM Comments comments (8)

I few months ago I got the Lego Indiana Jones game for XBOX 360. Having never sat down to watch the films in their entirety (Yes, I am aware of how lame I am) I decided that after beating the game to start getting the films from Netfix and watch them in order. I just got finished watching Crystal Skull and I can sum up my opi...

My YouTube might be gone

I just tried to look at my video manager and I got this page: http://www.youtube.com/oops?e=7000

I have only seen this page when an account has been suspended. Also under the monetization tab it's acting like I never signed up for it.

The only way I can be sure is so sign out, then sign back in again.

Since this may be the case I'm going to try to download all my videos fi...

Current Project Update.... UGH!!!

Posted by OX_Bigly on February 7, 2013 at 9:10 AM Comments comments (9)

I'm making an attempt to do my first video movie review.

With that said, I hate my laptop  Mainly because I'm trying to render the film I am going to review in order to crop the black border that surrounds the entire letterbox format picture so it looks nice.

I'm using a version of Sony Vegas and it is taking FOREVER. It starts rendering for over 24 hours  then when it's got like 10 hours left I get a nondescript error message with n...

Dreamaniac: A Mini Movie Review (aka more bad punctuation and sentence structure)

Posted by OX_Bigly on January 12, 2013 at 11:10 AM Comments comments (3)

From the back of the box: "In the sleep-stirring tradition of Phantasm and A Nightmare On Elm Street, Dreamaniac introduces Lily, a deadly leading lady who makes Freddy look like a bargain basement boogeyman!"

Whoever wrote this editorial review needs to be dragged into the street and have an elephant turd soaked in sulfuric acid shot into their face with a bazooka.

A Dysfunctional Christmas Song (To the tune of Jingle Bells)

Your Uncle hurls. Look out for squirrels in Grandpa's wooden leg.

Suffer through Tofurky and some Eggnog with no egg.

Dashing cross you yard in a F-150 truck. Your family has arrived. The snowman's out of luck.

Hear those rug-rats scream, a never ending fight. Oh someone please come shoot me if they stay past Christmas night.

Oh, Your Uncle hurls. Look out for squirrels in Grandpa's wooden leg.

Suffer through Tofurky and some Eggnog with...

The Video Dead: A Mini Movie Review

Posted by OX_Bigly on November 14, 2012 at 4:35 AM Comments comments (1)

I have been on a horror movie kick with my Netflix instant queue. (lag-over from halloween I guess)

Anyway I have been at times in the past writing mini reviews for some of the films I have watched on Netflix. I've also been posting them on amazon.com as well. So I figure you guys might want to know how I feel about these movies. (So I might do more)

One thing to note is that because this is a "mini review" I'm not going to give anything too in depth abou...

Sorry Fat Boy, No Nerd Shirt For You.

Posted by OX_Bigly on November 7, 2012 at 8:35 PM Comments comments (4)

I am built like a gozerian homunculus, so I already have a hard time finding clothes that fit me in a regular department store.

So one thing that pisses me off worse is when I see, what I would like to call "Nerd Shirts" that aren't in my size.

My definition of a "Nerd Shirt" is a T-shirt that has on it some image, logo, or character from science fiction, comic books, toys, or old cartoons.

Now maybe the image of the comic book nerd (or geek if your nasty) has c...

Lex Emerson

This is a short story I wrote a few years ago. I just thought you lot might enjoy it.

Lex Emerson Story by: OX_Bigly

May 23rd, 2004

As Lex Emerson walked up to the hatchway, he thrusts himself against the opening. With his shoulder strapped gun pointed upward he peers around the opening and sees no one.

He then, with gun drawn, secures the room shining the light on his gun into the shadows making sure that no one else is in here with him...

Do you Like The Lone Ranger? Well it seems that Disney, Jerry Bruckheimer, Gore Verbinski, and Johnny Depp don't.

"Preview Reviews" New Blog Series... Maybe

Posted by OX_Bigly on October 6, 2012 at 6:55 AM Comments comments (4)

OK, this might be a new thing I'm going to do... We'll see.

I'm doing this as a blog vs doing a vid because I can articulate myself better with written word (minus the bad-awful sentence structure and punctuation) than I can with my verbal meandering.

This (potential) series will feature my thoughts on an upcoming film based solely on the preview, hence the name.

You may be asking: "How can you pass judgment on a film by the trailer al...

Companies and the "Social Media"

Posted by OX_Bigly on September 26, 2012 at 1:55 PM Comments comments (1)

I'm sure you have had this happen: You like or fallow a company on FB or Twitter and you ask them questions... Then six months go by and you still never got a response...

It seems to me that the only reason they have these Facebook pages and Twitted accounts is for the sole purpose of promoting themselves. You would think it would be so they can interact with the fans and people who use their products... no they just want to promote themselves.

Some company's FB pages...

It Was Funny Just Because It Was Funny (Censorship Of Older Cartoons)

Posted by OX_Bigly on August 22, 2012 at 12:25 AM Comments comments (1)

As you may know the world (or at least the U.S.) makes a big deal if you make fun of people's ethnicity, which I completely agree with.

However, I feel some people take guarding against offense a little too far especially in the realm of television, specifically old cartoons.

I wrote this little article quite a while ago and I know that finding any of these cartoons airing on any station now days is a near impossible feat.
