My Top 8 What's New Scooby Doo? Episodes

Posted by Brekclub85 on May 22, 2013 at 6:50 PM Comments comments (2)

With the recent conclusion of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, which IMO is the best iteration of the franchise, I decided to look back on a show that had a special place in my heart from my youth: What's New Scooby Doo?

WNSD, along with Fillmore, which I did a countdown of episodes way back, I think were really what sparked my now deep interest in the mystery genre. So, I feel I ...

Does knowing the spoiler really ruin the experience?

Posted by Brekclub85 on May 20, 2013 at 1:05 PM Comments comments (18)

Looking over on TVTropes, one of my favorite tropes on Character pages is when nearly all of a given character's tropes are whited out, and they're listed as a "Walking Spoiler."

I thought about the atittudes some people have in regards to spoilers, especially after both STID and IM3 had big twists involving their villains. So, in this article, I will look over a few characters regarded as walking spoilers, and, while trying to remain as spoiler-free as possible, give my opi...

My Top 10 Video Game Boss Fights

Posted by Brekclub85 on May 9, 2013 at 5:10 PM Comments comments (5)

Sorry for the delay, here's the conclusion!

10. Safer Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)

The final boss of FF7, this really makes it to the top 10 soley because of the music. One Winged Angel is a great theme, and even if you use Knights of the Round as a cheap move, it's a memorable climax.

9. The Black Knight (Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time)

I won't say the knight's identity as that ruins the big twist of Sly 4, but this two pa...

Quick update

Hey fellow Expressionists, I just wanted to give you a quick update on why I haven't been posting blogs as frequently as I have before.

Finals week is coming up, and that has my time preoccupied with studying, no surprise there. I'll try to fit in a blog this week as I have Monday-Thursday off from work.

As for the 2 year anniversary movie (A Site in Scarlet), I can confirm the script has been completed and filming will take place over the Summer for everyo...

My Top 20 Favorite Boss Fights (Part 1 of 2)

Posted by Brekclub85 on April 23, 2013 at 10:30 PM Comments comments (3)

When it comes to favorite villains, we often rank them based on how they act or just their sheer personality.

With video games, there's an additional layer to that: How fun they are to fight. With boss fights, it doesn't matter if the villain's lame, the fight can be really fun.

Here's part 1 of a 2 part list: (There will be spoilers)

20. Tiny Tiger (Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped)

The first boss of the game is fought in a Rom...

Looking back on Final Fantasy X-2

Posted by Brekclub85 on April 15, 2013 at 5:45 PM Comments comments (3)

When it came to video gaming for me, by 2003, there had been a lot of "firsts" I went through. I had gone through my first Mario game, my first Spyro, my first extreme sports, and my first kart racer. I had played multiple Final Fantasy games byy that point, but Final Fantasy X-2 was something different for me, and I don't mean the fact it was the first direct sequel.

You see, all the previous FF games I played, they technically were my older brother's games that he let me p...

My Top 10 Episodes of Code Lyoko

Posted by Brekclub85 on April 9, 2013 at 10:50 AM Comments comments (5)

With Evolution being over halfway over, I decided to take a look back at one of my favorite shows from my childhood: Code Lyoko.

Code Lyoko was about a group of boarding school students who found a supercomputer which powers a virtual world. In this world, they meet a girl named Aelita, but they also encounter a malevolent AI called XANA, who seeks to become all-powerful.

When I was 12-14, I was in love with this show, and it still holds up IMO. The charact...

My Top 5 Favorite Westerns (For BBHM)

Posted by Brekclub85 on April 1, 2013 at 12:55 PM Comments comments (5)

After a talk with Mark some time ago, I've realized I'vve seen very few Westerns in my life. So, after the past few months, I went and checked out a few westerns, coming to appreciate the genre.

So, here are my top 5 favorites:

5. An American Tail: Fievel Goes West:

It's animated, you don't see many westerns like that. You got Jimmy Stewart, native American stereotypes, and a saloon, all your bases covered!

4. A Perfect G...

My thoughts on Code Lyoko: Evolution

Posted by Brekclub85 on March 25, 2013 at 1:00 PM Comments comments (1)

A while back, I blogged on how a sequel series to Code Lyoko was coming to France. As of this week, the first 13 episodes of this 26-planned episode season have aired. I've taken my time and I've decided to give my opinion on what we've seen so far.

First off, I'll just say that I'm not bothered by the changing of the 2D sections to live action, nor w...

My Top 5 Favorite Bad Things About Sonic 06

Posted by Brekclub85 on March 19, 2013 at 12:40 AM Comments comments (4)

It's no secret that Sonic 06 is an early years Thomas the Tank Engine style trainwreck. It's only a short distance above Big Rigs in terms of being finished, because this game has at least possibile victories and several possible defeats.

However, watching the Game Grumps playthrough and replaying this garbage myself, I've come to near love this game in a "So ...

The Songs of Slashers

Posted by Brekclub85 on March 7, 2013 at 10:50 AM Comments comments (2)

While certain music from slasher films have become iconic in their own way (like the Halloween theme to give the most triumphant example), horror films seem to be known more for their instrumentals rather than their full out songs.

However, in the 80s, 5 particular films of the slasher genre more or less came with a theme song. This blog will not be a countdown, but rather just listing them off and explaining each song's appeal to me.

The ending song from "...

Brekclub85's Top 5 Underrated Cartoons

Inspired by Patricia's underrated Nick shows list, I've decided to do something similiar for animated programming I felt was a bit overlooked. Now, I'll adm8it this list probably isn't going to include some of the more obvious choices for a list like this.

Here we go!

In all honesty, I think this was the best show that was ever on Adult Swim, even moreso t...

Top 8 Sonic the Hedgehog songs

Posted by Brekclub85 on February 21, 2013 at 9:15 PM Comments comments (2)

Sure, Sonic the Hedgehog is a franchise that’s had its ups, downs, and all arounds, but if there’s one thing that most fans can agree that has been consistent in quality, it’s the music.

Today, in this top 8 list, I will be covering my personal favorite songs (sung songs, not just instrumentals) from the Sonic series. And once again, Brekclub85 is about to embarrass himself.

Here we go!

8. “This Machine” fr...

Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed

Posted by Brekclub85 on February 14, 2013 at 8:45 PM Comments comments (2)

It's taken a while, but I've finally gotten my copy of SAASRT.

The original Sega Stars Racing was one of my all time favorite Mario Kart clones, and let me tell you, I was excited for this sequel. Though I had to wait more months than originally anticipated because of the 3DS version keep getting pushed back, this game delivered.

As much as I love the original ...

A short update

Posted by Brekclub85 on February 11, 2013 at 12:20 AM Comments comments (1)

You probably notice I haven't been as active as I usually am in the past weeks. And I have a very good reason for that:

Besides the obvious school work, as James said in the February update, I'm working on the script for the Manic Expression 2 year anniversary movie, and the first draft is almost complete! Once that's finished, I'll be able to write more blogs, (in addition to modifying the script after seeing the main cast's responses to the first draft)

My Top 8 Favorite Internet Personalities

Hey, I did one for movies, games, shows, why not this?

And, like when James did his list, I want to be fair to all of you and not make anyone feel left out if I include other ME users but not certain others.

So, here we go!

8. The Game Grumps

JonTron and EgoRaptor have teamed up to create one of my favorite new internet shows of the past year. Sure, it's pretty much a fancy Let's Play, but the two have great chemistry tog...

As of 10:26 AM, February 1st, 2013, Brekclub85 is now an uncle!

My brother's wife pregnancy went really well, and they have a healthy baby boy. Still haven't picked out a name yet, from what I've heard.

Also, you may be wondering why I haven't been posting as frequently. Well, there's a good reason for that. I've been working on....a certain project. There are those of you who are in the know, but the rest of you won't find out until later this month :D:P

Poltergeist III review

Posted by Brekclub85 on January 25, 2013 at 7:45 PM Comments comments (1)

If one had to ask me what may be my biggest guilty pleasure was, it may quite honestly be this movie:

Released in 1988, Poltergeist III was the final chapter in the trilogy and more tragically, the final film to feature young Heather O' Rourke (RIP). Admiteddly, watching this film knowing she died before it's release is for me what watching The Dark Knight, All Dogs go to Heaven...

The Structural Similarities of the Sly and Scream Sagas Shown Swiftly

Posted by Brekclub85 on January 18, 2013 at 4:40 PM Comments comments (5)

With the release of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time coming in just a few weeks, it got me thinking back to 2011, when Scream 4, another franchise I really love finally had another entry.

And although Sly 4 has not yet been released, from what we've seen in previews, I've come to make an observation: The storylines of the Scream movies and the Sly Cooper games, though they are in different mediums and of different genres, mirror each other in several ways!

My tribute to Fraggle Rock (Part 1)

Posted by Brekclub85 on January 15, 2013 at 5:20 PM Comments comments (3)

Almost exactly 30 years ago was the debut of a television show. A show that probably more than any other show grew on me over the years. That show is Fraggle Rock.

Now I already did a top favorite episodes list for this show a while back, but the more I think about it, the more I want to talk about this show. There's so many well developed characters, so many visual...
