We don’t always agree here at Manic Expression. Opinions sometimes conflict, and debates flare up. We’re not Borg here, and that’s a good thing.
Last year I wrote a Stop the Hate declaring my support for the outing of Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern. Many people agreed with me that the fan backlash was homophobia rearing it’s ugly head in the nerd community. One man did not follow this line of thinking, and he had the...

Fluffyman is one of my oldest friends, at least as far as my time as a blogger goes. A founding member of the Anti-Hate Brigade, his Calling Out Haters has stayed true to his original goal of bringing civility and sanity back to the Internet. In many ways it’s a more pure version of what our original intentions were than Stop the Hate, which has expanded to sometimes including straight up reviews.
Sir Fluffs-A-Lot, the Fluffs...

Laziest. Birthday Image. Ever
27 years… I’m almost 30, man things have gone by so fast that I feel like I have still a lot to do. I may have graduated college and have gotten my first paying job, I still can’t drive, I still don’t have a girlfriend, I still live with my par...

Hello Expressionists, Ratin8tor here. And it appears that last week it was Les' birthday. So I thought I better write a blog saying how great Les is. So without further ado...
… Where did I put that heartfelt speech...
… Oh hear what some others have to say whilst I get ready.
That Long-Haired Creepy Guy: I remember when I first met Les. It was back wh...

Howdy everyone, Mediaman here, and wishing a happy anniversary to BigBlackHatMan! To honor this occasion, I’m going to review something Western-related. While I’m not exactly a fan of the genre, I know what I like. And there’s a video game that’s a Western (more or less) and something that flew just under the radar: The Gunstringer.

The day that this site went up, within minutes of it’s creation, I emailed Les. I knew for Manic Expression to flourish we needed something more than I could give it alone. We needed someone who could be selfless when I was selfish, warm when I was cold, open when I was closed. We needed someone to set an example not just of how to behave at this site, but of how to be a kind human being.
Over the course of the year, I have grown to be mor...

Every now and then, I miss a birthday at the last minute. I hear about it and I go, “Son of a biscuit!” Okay, I don’t say that, but you get the message.
Thus is the case with my friend, Oliver Judd. This young man had a birthday yesterday, and a little Fusionater birdie let me know about it, but I didn’t check my email in time. So I’m a day late with this birthday message, but I hope you’ll all j...

Ratin8tor saved the Podcast Plays.
That’s right, those plays you guys all enjoyed so much this week nearly didn’t happen, or at least not in the spectacular ball of awesome you all heard. Here’s the scoop:
So I wake up one morning with a strange, vivid dream. Basically, I dreamt my play, Vows. Literally, the whole thing, start to finish. What the fuck is wrong with me, you may ...

Let me tell you what kind of people I love.
I say, “Hey, I have an idea for a project! Whose with me?” And they say, “I’m with you! I’m with you! And not only am I with you, but we could do this, and we could do that, and I could help you out here, and I could add this, and it’ll be great!”
Enthusiasm! Oh, its so rare in this day and age. I used t...

Who the hell is Sal Garcia, you may ask yourself? Why, Sal is one of our first members. No, he's never posted anything here. I don't think writing blogs or making videos is really his kind of thing. So why is he here? He's here because he's one of the most loyal, caring friends I've ever had.
Here's Sal and I about 20 years ago:

No one is truly poor if they have friends.
This sums up my feelings about our birthday girl, Jason on the House / Lindgren. Of course she has a popular series here on Manic Expression, Team Jason and Lindgren, but she's also a friend to every member of this community. It was a friend of Jason's that told me to BE SURE to write this blog. I never would have known it was Jason's birthday today, but someone cared enough to point it out. My guess...

You all know her as the Eminator, that free thinking 4th grader who demanded to know why some words are acceptable and some aren’t (http://manicexpression.webs.com/apps/blog/show/12679532-get-over-it-swearing). But to me, she’s Emily, or Em as I often call her. She is my daughter, and she turns 10 today.
You know, a decade ago I w...

You know, I have a few things I’m really proud of in my life as a writer. I’ve been published. I’ve watched more than one of my articles get over a 2000 hits. I inspired “Stop the Hate” style articles to pop up on other sites. Yep, it may not be fame and fortune, but it ain’t bad either.
Another thing I’m pretty proud of is Moviefan12.
He wrote a very nice arti...
